After describing the detestable teaching and the greed and lying of the households of Crete in chapter 1, Paul declares to Titus in chapter 2 how a household transformed by the gospel should live. This is grounded in verses 11-15 which serves as the gospel heart of this letter. How we are to live and relate to one another should not discredit the gospel but be compelling to those around us as we live in the light of God’s grace.
