Romans 15:23–33 gives us a picture of gospel partnership that goes far beyond supporting ministry from a distance. Paul has a vision for the gospel reaching as far as Spain, and invites the Roman Christians to join him through prayer, giving, practical support and sharing in the cost and struggle of gospel ministry. The gospel gives us a bigger picture of God’s work and makes distant people genuine partners — so we don’t simply watch from the side lines, but pray, give, go and suffer together. And while partnership can be costly, it is also deeply joyful and refreshing.
